Makwarela Society for the Aged to Host Fundraising Gala Dinner in Support of Elderly Care Initiatives
Scheduled for 28 November 2025
The Makwarela Society for the Aged is set to host an elegant and inspiring Fundraising Gala Dinner on the evening of Friday, 28 November 2025, at the Magwedzha Mphaphuli Hall in Makwarela. The event is expected to bring together community leaders, business stakeholders, government representatives, and supporters of elderly welfare for a night dedicated to honouring senior citizens and raising funds for key programmes.
The gala dinner forms part of a full day of fundraising activities aimed at supporting the Society’s essential services, including home-based elderly care, medical check-up programmes, nutrition support, and efforts to improve living conditions for the elderly. Funds raised will also contribute to the organisation’s borehole project, which seeks to secure a sustainable and reliable water supply at the Society’s premises.
One of the highlights of the evening will be a keynote address by Dr. John Mudau, a respected leader, academic, and Chairman known for his extensive experience in governance, community development, and social transformation. Dr. Mudau is expected to speak on the theme:
“Elderly Care: Honouring Our Elders as Living Knowledge Libraries and Community Wisdom Centres.”
The programme will also include special performances, presentations about the organisation’s ongoing work, and recognition of partners, sponsors, and volunteers who have supported the Society over the years. Guests will enjoy a full-course dinner, networking opportunities, and a warm atmosphere that celebrates the dignity and value of senior citizens.
Local businesses, churches, NGOs, and government departments have been invited to participate through sponsorships, donations, and attendance. The gala is anticipated to serve as a vital platform for mobilising resources and strengthening partnerships that advance the wellbeing of the elderly in Makwarela and surrounding communities.
The Makwarela Society for the Aged encourages all invited guests and community stakeholders to attend and contribute to this meaningful cause. Organisers believe the event will not only raise much-needed funds but also inspire greater appreciation and support for elders as keepers of history, wisdom, and culture.
The Gala Dinner will start at 18:00, following the Fun Walk that takes place earlier the same day.
